So let's just get this straight...
eruditechick:
Hunger Games has the 3rd biggest opening in movie history.
An action flick starring a girl.
Who isn’t an emaciated stick.
Who isn’t a princess.
Whose journey is motivated by her sister, not a man.
Who is not sexually used, abused, active or even objectified much.
3rd biggest opening in movie history. Spawning a franchise.
Let’s just… let’s just think about that.
Let’s just...

An ode to Parked
Spoilers ahead—go watch the movie first.[[MORE]]1. Because it paid such loving attention to the small moments that make up our lives. In real life things often happen quietly, with no fuss, and only later can you look back and realize what it meant.
2. Because Colm Meaney and Colin Morgan both understand that the best thing you can do as an actor is to simply offer yourself up and let the...

A baffling, infuriating trend has cropped up in reviews of The Hunger Games:...
– Jennifer Lawrence Is Not “Too Big” to Play Katniss (via usakeh)
“if critics are going to pick on a 21-year-old woman for not being skinny enough for a fantasy film, why haven’t they been more consistent in their critiques of actors’ bodies? I haven’t seen much concern about Liam Hemsworth’s...

Now my internal sense of time is completely screwed up. It’s 4pm and I feel like it’s noon.

I've decided
No more late night/midnight showings of movies for me.
I’m trying to have coherent thoughts about the Hunger Games, but it’s all a haze of images and crying and feeling really hungry and like I was about to pass out. And when I stood up I almost fell over.
And we were sitting way too close to the screen.
Never again.

So.
boxoftheskyking:
It has been decided. Holmes and I are Aziraphale and Crowley.
That is most effective metaphor. She is Aziraphale because she loves books (but not other people touching them) and tea and cuddles and being sweet, but she can go full on darkside if need be.
I don’t like people (but am too lazy to do anything actually malicious) and I terrify my plants (and food) and will soon...

What The Hunger Games is about: tyranny, revolution, courage, love, growing up, identity, poverty, hunger, class conflict, sacrifice
What the media thinks The Hunger Games is about: a steamy love triangle

1. Okay, I’m sorry, but over and over again Merlin has realized when there was some magical jewelry shit going down, and this is the ONE TIME HE DOESN’T REALIZE????
2. I’m all for writers being trolls ‘cause I’m masochistic that way. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to stand watching the majority of things that I love. (MOFFAT!!!!) But really??? Really??? You...

I think I must have spring fever.
Not really sure what it even is.
But I have this antsy, angsty feeling like I’m full of glowing buzzing energy that’s making my heart race and making me want to run and dance around but is also vaguely uncomfortable because I feel like I’m supposed to be DOING something but I can’t figure out what it is so instead I sit here feeling all buzzy and about-to-burst and...

I just remembered someone I had completely forgotten about:
The Unfortunate-Looking Man.
Who is this man, you ask?
He was on the Original Series of Star Trek. He was Chekhov before there was Chekhov (as far as what he did on the ship. He piloted with Sulu.)
And he was, truly, an unfortunate-looking man. Every time the camera would show his face my sister and I would cling to each other,...
