HAVE I MENTIONED MY LOVE FOR OUR NERD PRESIDENT?
ALSO: MY LOVE FOR WILL SMITH
Ahhhhhhh I love that Obama brought it up, not Jaden! SUCH A BAMF.

Now that’s my kind of day.
My close personal friend (Benedict Cumberbatch) was ridiculously good, as always.
[Why do I call him that, you ask?
Wishful thinking + family inside joke]
My parents were very impressed with how well I followed everything, but I still needed them to explain a bunch of it because they’d seen it before and worked it all out already.
Kind of fun to go straight from Sherlock to Tinker Tailor!
Dad: Wow.
Mom: Wow.
Silence.
Then…
Dad: WE HAVE TO WAIT HOW LONG FOR THE NEXT SERIES, AGAIN??
Mom: Okay, what if…[insert several really good theories about how Sherlock might have faked his death, one of which is probably close to true because, as Dad and I both remarked, she was right about Snape]
Me: Teeheehee. My parents are awesome.
I can’t get enough of Sherlock Series 2.
I think when I first watched it I was mostly noticing the INCREDIBLE acting, but now that I’m rewatching with my parents I think I’m noticing the writing more.
How brilliant that they established Sherlock’s character so concretely in the first series, and then in the second series put the character they’ve established through the wringer. We know who he is after the first series, we know how powerful he is, we know how potentially dangerous he is, how little compassion he appears to show, but we know he does, in fact, have a heart…
And then in series 2 we get answers to the questions. What happens when Sherlock is confronted with a woman almost as clever as he is, who attempts to awaken feelings in him that may have lain dormant his entire life until now? What happens when Sherlock has to confront his fear? What happens when he falls?
That is such smart, well-structured TV writing. All hail Moffat, Gatiss, and Thompson!
Sorry, but the source is staff and I’m not taking any chances!
Of course.
They also tolerated and even seemed to enjoy my 1/2-hour long rant directly following the episode about why it’s the most brilliant episode of TV that has ever existed and ever will exist, why Benedict Cumberbatch should win all the awards, why it’s not sexist, and why it forever confirms the immeasurable power of art.
So yeah.
My parents are awesome.
